Some evenings are about being seen. This one is about being present.
Sip. Savour. Share. is an intimate wine tasting and African pastry experience brought to you by Table4Thirteen and Dine With Varis. Set within the warm, candlelit surroundings of Hibiscus Studio in Canning Town, the evening brings together 30 guests around a single communal table for a guided white wine tasting paired with African inspired canapes, pastries, small plates, and gelato.
This is not a conventional wine night. It is a sensory journey rooted in African culinary heritage, where every pour is paired with a purpose, every bite tells a story, and every detail on the table has been placed with intention.
From the first welcome drink to the last sip of the evening, you will taste, discover, and connect in a setting designed to slow you down and open you up.
A Guided Wine Tasting: Led by Toni Wines, the evening's sommelier, you will be walked through a curated selection of white wines, including bottles from African vineyards and diaspora winemakers. Each pour comes with tasting notes, origin stories, and pairing context. No pretension. Just great wine, well explained.
African Inspired Food: Phylis Kitchen is behind the full food offering: a menu of canapes, pastries, and small plates drawing from West African, North African, and pan-African flavour traditions. Expect bold spicing, smoky depth, flaky pastry, and rich, layered fillings. Kwikish Jollof Paste features as a signature ingredient, woven directly into the canapes. Gelato rounds out the evening.
Non-Alcoholic Options: If you are not drinking, you are not missing out. House-made infusions honouring African botanical traditions will be served alongside the wine: hibiscus, baobab, tamarind, and ginger. Same care, same craft, same intention.
A Beautifully Styled Table: The table is the centrepiece. Styled with African design traditions in mind: mud cloth runners, woven placemats, warm ceramics, matte gold flatware, candlelight, and dried botanical centrepieces. Every seat is a setting. Every detail is deliberate.
Personalised Touchpoints: Your name at your seat. A printed menu in a bespoke holder. Tasting note cards for you to write on throughout the evening. A personal welcome note from the hosts.
A Luxury Gift Bag: You leave with more than a memory. Each guest receives a curated luxury gift bag featuring products from our brand partners: artisan food, candles, homeware, and more. The kind of gift bag you actually want to open.
6:00 PM: Doors open. Welcome drinks. Arrival canapes. The table is set, the candles are lit, and the room is ready.
6:30 PM: A welcome from your hosts, Table4Thirteen and Dine With Varis. An introduction to the evening and the story behind it.
6:45 PM: The guided tasting begins. Toni Wines leads you through each pour, paired with canapes and pastries from Phylis Kitchen. Ask questions. Compare notes with the person beside you. There are no wrong answers.
8:00 PM: The formal tasting gives way to open tasting and socialising. Gelato is served. Revisit your favourite pairings. Meet someone new. This is where conversations deepen and the evening finds its rhythm.
9:00 PM: Closing remarks. Gift bags in hand. You take the evening with you.
9:30 PM: Venue close.

You love food and you are curious about wine, but you do not need to be an expert in either. You are drawn to experiences that feel considered and intentional. You would rather be at a table of 30 than in a room of 300. You value good conversation as much as good wine. You are interested in African food culture, diaspora creativity, and brands with genuine stories behind them.
If that sounds like you, this is your evening.
Early Bird Ticket £125 per person Everything included. Only 15 tickets availabe for early birds.
Later Release £150 per person Everything included.
Is this a seated dinner? It is a seated tasting experience, not a full dinner. You will be seated at a communal table and served canapes, pastries, small plates, and gelato throughout the evening alongside the guided wine tasting. You will not leave hungry.
Do I need to know about wine? Not at all. Toni Wines will guide you through every pour. The tasting is designed to be accessible, social, and fun, whether you are a first-time taster or a seasoned enthusiast.
Is there a non-alcoholic option? Yes. From Non-alcholic premium wines to House-made African botanical infusions (hibiscus, baobab, tamarind, ginger) are served alongside the wine. They are crafted with the same care and intention and are a full part of the tasting experience.
What should I wear? Smart casual. The evening is relaxed but considered. Think: the outfit you would wear to a really good restaurant with people you want to impress.
Can I attend alone? Absolutely. Many of our guests come solo. The communal table format and social atmosphere mean you will not be sitting in silence. You will meet people.
Is the venue accessible? Hibiscus Studio is a ground floor venue. Please contact us directly if you have specific accessibility requirements and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.

Thirty seats. One table. An evening rooted in African heritage, fine wine, and the kind of conversation that only happens when the room is right.
This is not an event you watch. It is one you taste, feel, and remember.
